Discovering Oneself

Do you know who you really are?

If the answer is yes, then I wish to ask another question:

Do you know who you will be in five years?

Self-expansion 🚩

What talents and interests will you have in 5 years?

Where will you live in 5 years?

What people will enter your life in 5 years?

If you don’t know, then do you know yourself? Do you have talents, interests, friendships, opportunities, skills, etc. that you haven’t discovered yet?

What cuisine have you not tried yet? Which countries, or places, have you not been to yet?

Each of us has interests and talents. But we can get more!

“20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:20-21)

Exploration 🌵

I have found that exploring new things can be uncomfortable, unfamiliar, or frightening. Plus, when you first try something, you may stumble. Others may be watching, and see you stumble as you learn.

Why can’t the world be like a mother overjoyed to see her child take her first steps?

When trying new things, one will also take their first steps into music, programming, reading, games, and other skills. You will likely fumble at times as you learn. For me, I’ve recently visited a country where there is a slight language barrier, and have fumbled a few times.

But keep going!

I’ve found that I may struggle one day with something. But then my mind makes new connections as I sleep, and the next day, it becomes easier! And the next day, it becomes even easier.

How many people give up the first day? When its very unfamiliar? How many people say “oh I guess this just isn’t for me”? When perhaps just a bit more time would have made all the difference.

You are Worth It 🙂

I believe in giving myself a chance.

Have you ever tried Boston Creme Pie? Maybe it will become your favorite dessert. Maybe you will discover a novel that will deeply touch your heart and spirit, and give you hope. Maybe acquiring a new skill will give you new opportunities in your career, community, for your family, etc.

Be your best advocate 🙂. Be good to yourself and provide good education and opportunities to yourself, to find new joy. To discover things about yourself that you never knew!
